The Isle updated and now my game or overlay behaves differently. What should I check?

After an update, what do you normally check first when something that used to work starts behaving differently?

I'm talking about general issues like a changed overlay, a failed launch, or settings that no longer behave as expected. It could be the game, the graphics settings, or some third-party software.

I'd rather work out what's actually wrong than randomly change ten settings and forget what I did.

First check whether the game itself works normally without the extra software. That narrows things down a lot.

Verify the game files through Steam if the base game is crashing or behaving strangely. That's a reasonable first check for corrupted or missing files.

Check the exact game version too. People sometimes forget their game updated automatically overnight.

If it's third-party software, check its documentation and compatibility status. Don't keep forcing it to launch when the version is unsupported.

And change one thing at a time. The classic "I changed everything and now nothing works" troubleshooting method is not ideal lol.
